The pillars
Christian theology rests on a few essential pillars:
The Bible (Scripture): This is the primary source and final authority for Christian faith and practice. The Bible (comprising the Old and New Testaments) is understood as God’s inspired word, containing the story of creation, humanity’s fall into sin, and God’s plan of redemption.
Jesus Christ: The cornerstone of the faith. Christian theology centers on Jesus as the Son of God, the Messiah, who is both fully divine and fully human (Incarnation). His life, teachings, sacrificial death on the cross, and resurrection are seen as the central acts of salvation.
The Trinity (God): The core doctrine affirming that the one God exists eternally as three distinct persons—Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit—who are co-equal and co-eternal. This doctrine shapes how Christians understand God’s nature and work.
Revelation: The belief that God has made himself and his will known to humanity. This includes:
General Revelation: God’s self-disclosure through nature, creation, and human conscience.
